Dominion Energy Jazz Café | The Norms

Join us every Wednesday for in-person performances by some of the area’s best jazz musicians.

The Norms specialize in a tight, unique, and compelling brand of jazz-funk fusion. They have been described as providing "pure, genre-bending instrumentals that will carry you somewhere between a '70s vinyl dream and an interstellar jazz session." The Norms are seasoned musicians who delight audiences throughout Virginia. Features Mark Piper on drums, Ben Leonard on bass and synthesizer, Dan Hall on guitar and keyboard, and Caleb Dance on sax and flute.

Seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted, and tables cannot be held in advance.

Dominion Energy Jazz Café is presented in partnership with the Richmond Jazz Society.

This event is part of our Dominion Energy Jazz Café program series.

Dominion Energy Jazz Café | Brother Blues' Band

Join us every Wednesday for in-person performances by some of the area’s best jazz musicians.

Get ready for a high-energy, soul-drenched performance from the Brother Blues’ Band, led by the legendary Hermon “Blues” Maclin, a renowned bassist, smooth baritone, and founding member of the iconic funk group Trussel (Elektra Records). With chart-topping hits like "Love Injection," "Sweet Love," and "Big City Rocker," Trussel made its mark from Madison Square Garden to the heart of the Deep South. And now, the Brother Blues’ Band is bringing that same fire to VMFA's Cochrane Atrium.

This powerhouse ensemble features an irresistible mix of soul, funk, R&B, and jazz. Expect feel-good classics from Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Parliament Funkadelic, and Stevie Wonder—plus original grooves straight from “Blues” himself.

Seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted, and tables cannot be held in advance.
