VMFA will participate in CultureWorks’ artoberVA whose theme this year is All-Access: Empowerment through Expression. 

On Thu, Oct 17, only, VMFA will offer pay-what-you-will pricing on tickets to its two special exhibitions A Long Arc and American, born Hungary. A regularly priced ticket for these exhibitions is $12 for adults. A ticket to one grants you admission to both exhibitions. The pay-what-you-will offer applies only to tickets purchased in person for exhibitions.

Amuse is pleased to offer a special Still Life Masters & Virginia Wine dinner. This tasting menu is a journey through dishes inspired by still life pieces from the VMFA collection, including works by German, Flemish, and Dutch artists.  In honor of Virginia Wine Month, Amuse is partnering with several outstanding Virginia wineries to present wine selections that complement the inspired dishes that will be served on this special, one-night-only menu. The evening will be hosted by Dr. Sylvain Cordier, VMFA's Paul Mellon Curator and Head of the Department of European Art.  Dr. Cordier will bring to life the artistic masterpieces that inspired the menu.

Please note that, due to the nature of a tasting menu, not all dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Kindly reach out to us in advance with any dietary needs to ensure we are able to assist. 

Tickets are required. If your plans change and you must cancel, tickets may be refunded up to 72 hours before the event. 

Price is inclusive of food, beverage, tax, and service.

Friday Love returns to the After 5 Fridays stage with the rhythms of Bachata, a music genre from the Dominican Republic that contains elements of Spanish, indigenous Taino and African musical traditions. Come hear the music and dance through the night! Drink Specials from Best Café start at 5:30 pm and the dancing begins at 6 pm.

Join us for a captivating evening of live music, comedy, and spoken-word poetry, featuring Roscoe Burnems, City of Richmond’s Inaugural Poet Laureate, and presented by The Writer's Den. Multiple performances will contemplate the persistent yet complicated notion of the American Dream from the perspectives of people of African and Indigenous descent. The program’s thought-provoking theme is inspired by VMFA’s special exhibitions A Long Arc: Photography and the American South since 1845 and American, born Hungary: Kertész, Capa, and the Hungarian American Photographic Legacy, both on view from October 5, 2024 through January 26, 2025, and by the VA 250 American Revolution Celebration.
