Join us for a special evening with author Hayden Herrera. Her talk will explore Frida Kahlo's art and her life, examining how Kahlo's imagery came directly from the things that happened to her—her illnesses; her childlessness; and her complex and often-painful relationship with her husband, the great muralist Diego Rivera.
Kahlo told the story of her life in paint. “I paint my own reality,” she once said. The paintings she produced between 1926 and her death in 1954 show her to be one of the bravest and most original artists of the 20th century. Decades after her death, Kahlo's intense and often shockingly personal images, together with her dramatic life story, helped turn the beloved Mexican artist into an international cult figure.
