Dawoud Bey’s photographic series In This Here Place, on view as part of the exhibition Dawoud Bey: Elegy, represents the landscapes of former plantations in Louisiana at an immersive scale, and with an acute sensitivity for both visual detail and historical nuance. Join Dr. Piper for a close consideration of these important and moving photographs within the context of African American enslavement in America, photography in the South, and the arc of Bey’s photographic career.
