This one-time only screening honors VMFA’s special exhibition, American, born Hungary: Kertész, Capa, and the Hungarian American Photographic Legacy.
Hungarian-born director Michael Curtiz displayed his superb sense of cinematography and composition in this high-water mark of Hollywood cinema. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman shine in their iconic roles among an array of characters—some noble, some shifty—with unforgettable dialog. AND Dooley Wilson, as Sam, plays the immortal song “As Time Goes By."
Synopsis: Early in World War II, a cynical and world-weary “saloon keeper” (played by Bogey) must decide if he should help his former lover and her husband escape the Nazis in neutral Morocco. “Round up the usual suspects!”
