This film explores how funk’s infectious grooves became a force of cultural resistance and self-determination. James River Short Films Showcase

This competition has been presented since 1994 by the James River Film Society. Finalist films (20 minutes or less) will be screened, and a special guest judge will divide a $3,000 award among the winners. The audience gets to choose its favorites, as well. Schedule and tickets at jamesriverfilm.org
